• 1 inch ginger
  • Hot Water
  • Honey/ Agave Syrup as required

1 inch ginger, sliced and crushed in a pestle and mortar put in a mug and add hot water and a small spoon of honey if required.

If you want to peel the skin of the ginger use a spoon, sounds really weird I know and I thought the same until I tried it and it works really well as it allows you to peel quite finely against the skin which is critical as most of the actives are between the skin and the ginger

Ginger is a great detoxer and will cleanse your body so is great first thing in the morning instead of coffee or in the afternoon after lunch as it will aid digestion. As expecting mothers know it also helps with morning sickness.

Alternatively just add slice of ginger to tea.

Variations &Tips:

  • Add ginger, hot water and of course 1/2 a lemon if you have a cold I also add a teaspoon of Baobab powder and Moringa – it goes green and a bit gritty, but is a magical wonder for a cold or sore throat.
  • If I am working from home I will often make a pot of ginger tea and then just pour about an inch into a cup and add soda water or hot water to it, my drink for the day.
  • Most nutrients are held within the skin and the vegetable, fruit or spice which is why I always try and use them without peeling  – especially things like carrots, apples etc.
